Overview
ISP Audit is a macOS menu bar application that monitors your internet connectivity and helps you document outages. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.
Data We Collect
ISP Audit collects the following data to provide its core functionality:
- Connectivity logs - timestamps of when your internet connection goes up or down
- Speed test results - download/upload speeds and latency measurements via Cloudflare
- Outage records - duration and frequency of connectivity interruptions
- Network information - name and type (WiFi/Ethernet) of monitored networks
Local Storage
All monitoring data is stored locally on your device. ISP Audit does not sync your data to any cloud service or external server. Your connectivity logs, speed test results, and reports remain entirely on your Mac.
Data We Do NOT Collect
- Personal identification information (name, email, address)
- Browsing history or internet activity content
- Location data
- Data from other applications
Website Analytics
Our website (ispaudit.com) uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors find and use our site. This is limited to the website only and does not affect the ISP Audit application. Google Analytics may collect standard web analytics data such as page views, referral sources, and browser information.
Third-Party Services
- Cloudflare - used to perform speed tests within the application. Speed test requests are sent to Cloudflare's servers to measure your connection performance.
- Google Analytics - used on this website only (not in the app) to understand site traffic.
- Gumroad - used for Pro license purchases. Gumroad handles payment processing and is subject to their own privacy policy.
Data Integrity
ISP Audit uses hash chain verification to ensure the integrity of your connectivity logs. This means your outage records are tamper-evident and can serve as reliable documentation when filing complaints with your ISP.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, share, or transmit your monitoring data to any third party. Your data stays on your device unless you explicitly export it (via PDF or CSV reports) to share with your ISP or regulatory agency.
Your Rights
Since all data is stored locally on your device, you have full control over it at all times. You can:
- View all collected data within the application
- Export your data as PDF or CSV reports
- Delete all data by removing the application and its data from your Mac
